Study Programs

The Institute of Sinology offers a Bachelor’s degree program (180 ECTS) as well as a Master’s degree program (120 ECTS). In addition, selected topics in Sinology can be studied as part of the Master’s program Religion und Philosophie in Asien (Religion and Philosophy in Asia, 120 ECTS) and as a Bachelor’s minor subject (60 ECTS).

The Bachelor’s degree program is a program without admission restriction and without aptitude test. Enrollment is always possible for the winter semester at the regular dates. The Master’s degree program is subject to various restrictions on admission.
The primary language of instruction in all programs is German. Students interested in pursuing a degree at the Institute of Sinology are encouraged to consult the information on study programs (in German).

 

The Institute of Sinology currently has exchange agreements with the Sinology or Chinese Studies departments of the following universities:

Universidade de Lisboa

International students who would like to study at the Institute of Sinology within the framework of an exchange programme can find information on the page Applications for Erasmus+, SEMP and LMUexchange and are encouraged to contact the Student Office of the Faculty for the Study of Culture.

The primary language of instruction in all programs is German. Upon prior agreement with the teaching staff, exchange students may take certain examinations in English or a third language.
